Hiroyuki Ohsaki received the B. E., M. E., and Dr. Eng. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Tokyo, Japan, in 1983, 1985 and 1988, respectively. He joined the Department of Electrical Engineering, the University of Tokyo in 1988. From 2004 he is a Professor at the Department of Advanced Energy, Graduate School of Frontier Sciences, the University of Tokyo, Japan. From April 2019 to March 2021 he was the Dean of the Graduate School of Frontier Sciences, the University of Tokyo. His research interests include applied superconductivity, electrical machines, linear drive systems, magnetic levitation technology, etc. Prof. Ohsaki was the 108th president of the Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan from May 2021 to May 2022. He is a fellow of the Institute of Physics and the Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan. He is the vice chair of the Executive Committee of IEA High-Temperature Superconductivity Technology Collaboration Program, and the chair of the Board of the International Superconductivity Symmosium. Prof. Ohsaki is the chair of the International Steering Committees of both the International Symposium on Linear Drives for Industry Applications (LDIA) and the International Conference on Magnetically Levitated Systems and Linear Drives (MAGLEV). |
